  The MRGCD board lobbied to kill a bill that would allow a mail in ballot for the MRGCD.  Instead only 3%

  (3,000) voted returning incumbents.  MRGCD takes a 5 mill levy.  AJ suggests a revised attempt at a mail

   in ballot.

  Mail Ballot Would Hike MRGCD Turnout  http://www.abqjournal.com/opinion/1OP6-03.HTM

  MRGCD is in charge of irrigation ditches and drains from Cochiti Dam to Bosque del Apache.  Irrigators

  were against a bill changing to a mail in ballot and so turn out will be very small.  The district also has

  the right to incur debt without voter approval.

  Property owners in the MRGCD vote today for 3 board seats, 1 seat is unopposed.  Lawrence C.

  Troncosa and Jose U. Otero are incumbents.  There are 86,000 eligible voters.

  Jim Wagner is also author.  Authors are board members of MRGCD.  They dispute AJ assertion of poor

  voter turnout being caused by MRGCD.  MRGCD has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to increase

             turnout.  [Note: Voter turnout has been dismal.]
